The Blickensderfer No. 5 was the first production typewriter made by the Blickensderfer Typewriter Company. The Blickensderfer No. 5 was invented by George Canfield Blickensderfer and premiered at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Designed to compete with larger, heavier machines, the Blickensderfer No.5 quickly gained popularity for its light weight and portable design. [1]
